ABOUT MARTIN SPILKER

Martin Spilker is a nature lover and nature photographer. Born in Missouri in 1960, his roots trace back to Bethel, a rural northeast Missouri community. He grew up on a farm, and it was his time on the family farm that taught him to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of nature all around him

A self-taught photographer, Martin began his journey in professional nature photography in 1999. Friends who had seen his talent in photography for many years encouraged Martin to start this journey. While Martin’s collection of photos includes many shots of his native Missouri, his photos include nature scenes from across the country as well. In 2004, Martin joined the Missouri Artisans Association as a “juried artist member.”

Although he suffers from Myophosphorylase Deficiency, or “McArdle’s Syndrome,” a rare genetic muscular disorder, he does not allow the disorder to keep him from capturing and sharing the beauty of nature. Eight years after the symptoms became prevalent, Martin took up nature photography, and today he finds his calling in recording the stunning beauty of God’s creation – enjoying the chance to reflect the glory of his Creator.
